Re: Flowers

I love hibiscus. I have about  6 planters that I bring in every winter. Some of them are over 6 years old.

^5 LOVE IT!!! I bring in my tropical hibiscus every year too! The dinner plates are perennials & survive really cold winters. I just cut them down late fall.

I just ordered the 'All about Bling' hibiscus on Amazon. I have also ordered seeds & plants from eBay & online nurseries. I prefer to buy from local nurseries, but sometimes they do not have the unique colors or blooms that the internet offers.

Re: Flowers

I ordered some lilac starts from eBay about 5 years ago. They are about 6 feet tall now.It makes me so happy to see how much they grow each year. Last year was the first year they actually bloomed.

I like to buy from local nurseries too but it is sooo much easier to buy online. As you said, you can find a huge variety online that is hard to find locally.

Re: Flowers

Lol you reminded me of where I got my lilacs. I was walking a dog in the woods & found the foundation of a really old house. Around it were massive flowers. I dug up iris, lilac seedlings, daffodils, tulips & a few other flowers that I have never seen before. That was about 6yrs ago & the lilacs are above the house now. Mine are purple, but I think I will get a few white ones. What are the odds of me finding a white lilac in the woods?

Re: Flowers

Those flowers are superb, the color, size and over all health is fantastic. Thank you for posting those pics, the next time I get out the paints and brushes, if I end up doing anything with still life involved those three flowers will surely make the cut. It is so much fun to paint flowers when you have the photos in clear crisp color looking you in the eye. My memory of exactly how they are supposed to look too often fails me to be painting from memory. Thanks again.

This is the one I want, right along side a large trumpet blue morning glory. I'd enjoy having the butterflies completely confused over which ones they want to feed off of.
