million in civil fraud trial
A judge ordered former President Donald rump and his companies to pay nearly $355 million in a ruling in the New York civil fraud case.
The rump will also have to pay millions in interest, will be barred from serving as an officer or director of any state corporation or other legal entity in the state for three years, and cannot apply for loans from any financial institution registered in the state for three years for fraudulently inflating the values of his properties.
The rump's adult sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, have been ordered to pay $4 million for their personal profits from the fraud and are barred from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation for two years.
Two former rump Organization executives are permanently banned from running finances for New York businesses.
The rump slammed the decision and vowed to appeal the ruling. The trial in this case has served as a precursor to the four criminal trials the rump is expected to face this year as he campaigns to regain the presidency.
