Yay! Mayor Thomas McDermott of Hammond IN!
Hammond is a neighboring city from my town. I say Yay because aside from NW Indiana, where I live (and Hammond is) the rest of Indiana is staunch Republican. It is so annoying because those Electorial votes from Indiana always go Republican. NW Indiana has close ties with Chicago and many residents work in Chicago so this part of the state is Democratic.
It is very frustrating each Presidential election when Indiana gives all those Electorial votes to the Republican candidate. It makes me want to move back to Ohio!

I noticed Indiana had quite a few on the KKK list that Anonymous released. I was a bit surprised.

I wonder what will happen with that list from Anonymous. Probably nothing because they are Republicans.

I was not surprised, Vantro. The Southern part of Indiana is also very religious. Remember Governor Pence and his Religious Freedom Restoration Act? Makes me ashamed to be a Hoosier sometimes!
My family lives in Ohio & I lived there for 6 years when I was in 7 - 12th grade. I lived on a farm in Somerset. My extended family lives about an hour away from there in Circleville. Yes home of the Pumpkin Show!

Sam is right! I did some time in way Southern Indiana and it is way backwards there-maybe because of how close it is to Kentucky?

So southern Indiana is a lot like southern Ohio? Bible belt? Thankfully some of Ohio's larger southern cities lean slightly to the left. Not much, but just enough to win elections lol. Somerset is near Columbus, correct? I stopped there once on my way to Colorado because my dog(100lbs) poo'd on my feet while driving! Nightmare!! I do recall that it was a nice town, but horrible memories to go with it lol.

Hey Vantro-your response was probably to Sam LOL but... Evangelical Bible Belt !! HUUUUGE SW Indiana swings right of right of right. Crossroads Christian Church -absolutely insane and most people in that rather large city attend that place (which is very creepy)

Yes Somerset is about an hour SE of Columbus, in Perry County. The home of Civil War General Phil Sheridan.
It is kind of funny to me that Ohio is more progressive in many ways than Indiana. Like the No Smoking laws. People in Indiana do not like to be told what to do (even when it is common sense). Finally about 5 years ago they passed a No Smoking law for restaurants in Indiana but bars can & do still allow smoking. Add to that the Christian Republican Machine in Indiana and this is why I joke to my family that I may move back to Ohio for the election. It is so frustrating to think your vote for President is wasted.
