Trump call on GOP opponents to drop out

Donald Trump on Tuesday called on some of his fellow contenders for the Republican presidential nomination who are polling poorly to drop out."There are too many people ... If a person's been campaigning for four or five months and they're at zero or one or two percent, they should get out," Trump said at a news conference in response to a question from CNN's Sara Murray.

Re: Trump call on GOP opponents to drop out

I agree that they should consider it, but if I were them I would stay in just to spite Trump. I think he should drop out, because he has 0 chance of winning the office. He has alienated so many voters that he will never get the votes he needs. You think he would drop out if someone said that to him? Not a chance in hell, so just sthu Trump!

Re: Trump call on GOP opponents to drop out

I want others to drop out and I want Trump and Carson to stay in the lead. What I do not want is for Rubio to start inching up more. He is the only one I think might be able to beat Hillary, but so far the GOP haven't figured that out yet and are still rallying around their least viable candidates.

Shhhhh...don't tell them.

Re: Trump call on GOP opponents to drop out

I don't think Rubio can beat Hillary. He only seems capable because of his fellow GOP candidates. When & if Rubio achieves the spotlight his platform will fail him imo. Abortion alone could kill it for him. Forced ultrasound isn't a vote grabber.

I hope you are right. But look how Carson is leading when he's saying such insane, batshit crazy stuff that is completely devoid of facts. His nice calm (anesthetized?) demeanor and the fact that he sounds well-spoken is enough to get him millions of votes.

George W Bush was elected twice, ffs.

Let's hope Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb keep leading the pack.

Carson is only leading with conserves. The only way any of those GOP candidates could get elected would depend on liberals & their ability to get to the voting booth. If the GOP wins it won't be because they deserved it, but because liberals have become complacent IMO.

I agree that the key is getting people out to vote.

If gerrymandering was eliminated, and automatic voter registration was in place, Republicans likely would not take the WH for many many years.

In our most recent Canadian national election, the liberal landslide was largely credited to the large voter turnout, and specifically the youth vote. We also have had a very lethargic voting record but this election really turned things around. Maybe a sign of things to come for our US neighbours.

GW only won once.
The second term was stolen with help from Jeb.

That seems to be the only thing he ever fixed.

Re: Trump call on GOP opponents to drop out

In order to win the presidency Carson would have to take these 11 states:

Calif. = 55 electors - NEVER
Texas = 38 electors
Fla. = 29 electors
N.Y. = 29 electors - NEVER, EVER
Ill. = 20 electors
Ohio = 18 electors
Mich. = 16 electors
Ga. = 16 electors
N.C. = 15 electors
N.J. = 14 electors - NEVER

Re: Trump call on GOP opponents to drop out

I'm really encouraged by the recent studies that show the trend away from religion. Something like 30% of Democrats listed 'none' under religion in a recent survey. As the ultra-religious become fewer and the evangelical vote counts less and less, it will make a Republican run for the WH seem to be a pretty dim prospect. Without the fear of God (and everything else), they don't have much of a platform.

So so true. The party of big business will have to distract voters quickly before the puppet strings are revealed.

He's attacking Rubio on his personal finances, but he's extremely vague. I just saw him speaking live somewhere and he said "Look into Rubio's records, his finances, let's see how good of a reporter you are" when asked for specifics. When pressed he said "There's lots there, just look, you'll find it."

It reminded me of the old "We have people in Hawaii looking into his Birth Certificate and you won't believe what we're finding!"

...which of course, was a big fat nothing. I think he's hoping that the reporters do the digging of the dirt for him.

And honestly, if people don't care about a doctor who thinks the world is 6000 years old, they're not going to care if a senator bounced a few cheques.

Oh how I wish that would lose gerrymandering that is the only way most of them got in office in the first place
