This is really unbelievable. Carson's campaign has admitted that the whole West Point story Carson detailed in his book was a total fabrication. He never received a scholarship, was never admitted & never even applied. What else is he lying about?
Okay, I was never going to vote for the man because I thought he was totally clueless, and I hope he's out of the race. Wasn't the fact that he had an inspirational life story enough for him?

Wow. Now I understand why he was so annoyed this morning when the CNN anchor was trying to ask him about the details in the book. He must have known this was going to come out.
If this doesn't make his poll numbers drop, I honestly don't know what to say.

Wow, just saw this. I thought he "presented" himself as a pious man. So much for practicing what you preach. And this was not just a slip of the tongue; this was in a book, so thought about and calculated.

Seriously, I always thought the man was delusional. I mean, after what happened with Sarah Palin and how she was vetted, you'd think that a political neophyte running for the highest office in the land, and a Republican no less, would know what to expect from the vetting process. Not defending Obama here, but after the right complained that the media didn't vet Obama, they can't complain now about vetting Carson since he's admitted to the fabrication.

I think we have a winner!!!

Ben said he never wanted to be president.
All he wanted to do in retirement was learn to play the organ.
I think he may get his wish.
Note to Ben: Neurosurgery is nothing compared to playing the organ.
Neurosurgery requires "gifted hands" while playing the organ requires both "gifted hands" and "gifted feet", all working at the same time.

Can't argue with that.

Hilary already has the title of liar in chief. But then again, there is always room for more liars in DC.

It appears that Politico has lied. Carson's campaign said no such thing.

? Care to elaborate?

Caribou, it doesn't change the fact that as recently as a month ago he gave an interview to Charlie Rose and stated that he was offered a scholarship to West Point. Politico may have lied about his admission/acceptance at West Point and that Carson admitted lying, but Carson still lied about being offered a scholarship to West Point. And if he didn't lie and it was an exaggeration, then he's no different than any other politician who embellishes the truth to prop themselves up. So, he's not the truth-teller the GOP believes he is.

Campbell, do we know that he wasn't told he could get a scholarship/appointment at Westpoint?

I don't know, but I'm letting go of this because it really makes no difference to me except to say that I don't want him to be the Rep nominee because I could never vote for him. I feel the same about Trump.
My husband thinks I'm deeply disturbed for being so obsessed with this story.

Lol! I'm not voting for him either but I don't want to see this story twisted to suit the media's agenda either.

I really don't think the media needs any fodder to bring him down right now. The guy thinks Joseph built the pyramids to store grain, for goodness sakes. Every time he opens his mouth something even more bizarre comes out.
I find it funny that he seems to think answering these questions is beneath him. Welcome to the big show, Dr. C.

UPDATE –– 7:15 pm EST: Politico has now added an editor’s note. Here it is in full:
[quote888]Editor’s note: POLITICO stands by its reporting on this story, which has been updated to reflect Ben Carson’s on the record response. The original story and headline said that Carson’s campaign had admitted he “fabricated” a “full scholarship” from West Point, but now Carson denies that his campaign’s statement constituted such an admission, and the story and headline were changed to reflect that. POLITICO’s reporting established that Carson said he received a “full scholarship” from West Point, in writing and in public appearances over the years — but in fact he did not and there is actually no such thing as a “full scholarship” to the taxpayer-funded academy. And today in response to POLITICO he acknowledged for the first time that was not the case. Carson never explicitly wrote that he had applied for admission to West Point, although that was the clear implication of his claim to have received an offer of a “full scholarship,” a point that POLITICO’s initial report should have made clear.[/quote888][/quote888]

Exactly, shiny! His views on linking same sex marriage to bestiality/pedophilia, prisons prove being "gay" is a choice, his pyramid statement, Obamacare is worse than slavery etc., are just so totally bizarre.
