Employment figures released today by the Department of Labor show that the economy is reeling and workers are suffering greatly. In November, businesses slashed 533,000 jobs, the largest monthly loss of jobs in 34 years. Unemployment rose to 6.7 percent, the highest level in 15 years. And 200,000 more jobs were lost in September and October than previously estimated. There are now fewer jobs in the economy than there were two years ago, even though the population has increased by 5 million people during that time.Since December 2007, when the current recession began, the economy has lost nearly 2 million jobs. Most job losses have been quite recent, meaning that the severity of the recession is accelerating. Over 1.2 million jobs have been cut in the past three months, and the economy has now shed jobs for 11 consecutive months. The current recession has already lasted a year, and if it lasts just four months longer—which is likely given its increased severity—the current recession will become the longest recession since the Great Depression.

The U.S. labor market added an astounding 271,000 jobs in October, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That's the single best month for job growth so far this year and snapped two consecutive months of underwhelming sub-200,000 employment numbers. And revisions to August's and September's data added 12,000 previously unreported positions to this year's employment total."Job gains occurred in professional and business services, health care, retail trade, food services and drinking places and construction," Friday's jobs report said. "Over the prior 12 months, employment growth had averaged 230,000 per month."

People who really care about their country are happy with ANY good news they hear, there are NO "good" news reports that appear to make the right happy about anything. Bush losing hundreds of thousands of jobs a month = good job, Obama gaining hundreds of thousands of jobs a month since he came into office = bad job. Bush not losing any sleep over Osama Bin Laden still at large = good job, Obama not sleeping until we got him = bad job. I could keep going but we all know the fraud that's been perpetrated by the right when it comes to facts about this President and his accomplishments.
