An 8-year-old Lousiana boy shot and killed his 87-year-old grandmother, Marie Smothers, after playing "Grand Theft Auto 4,"
Smothers died from a gunshot wound to the head. The shooting occurred in a trailer park in Slaughter, La.
The gun belonged to Smothers, which was confirmed by a man who identified himself as the boy's father. The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Department had this to say regarding the tragedy:
"By accounts of relatives of the victim, as well as friends of the family, the victim and the juvenile had a normal, loving, relationship and even shared the same bedroom," the sheriff's department said.
The boy initially lied to investigators, telling them that the incident was an accident. But the investigation led authorities to believe that the boy shot his grandmother in the back of the head while she was watching TV.

HI Dolly, Do you think he had the ability to form intent at his age,if he didn't have a history of being troubled? What is your opinion?

Dori, I can't imagine an eight year old, who supposedly had a good relationship with his grandmother, would intentionally kill her.
I think it was probably an accident caused by carelessness on the part of the grandmother who owned the gun and didn't have it under lock and key and the child not understanding that real guns kill.
BTW, this is not a recent story.
This happened back in 2013.
More recently, October 2015, a grandfather was babysitting his grandsons age 3 and 6 who were playing cops and robbers in another area of the house.
He heard a gun shot and was horrified to find the older boy shot the younger one who later died.
The poor man didn't even know there was a gun in the house.
If you search the internet, there are many similar stories.

The only thing that will stop a toddler with a gun is a grandmother with a gun. Shoot 'em up, Merika!

I think its so terribly sad when young kids are involved in these situations! How can they even begin to internalize them and move on to a "normal"life! What is wrong with the adults in this world?? I'm afraid I don't want to know any more ,so I'll pass on looking them up> Nothing upsets me more than our kids of today not being taken care of properly.Whether it be abuse or neglect ,its just too upsetting and it angers me! Do you have any idea how either of theses cases were resolved? I did look up at one time how many juveniles are given life sentences and that ,in ,itself was way too much for me to even think of! Considering that adults get away with murder in our country !

Seriously Shiny?
I have come to expect Dolly to post outrageous nonsense for the sake of controversy that he believes is his 'divine
command' however the "shoot'em up Merika" is not what I expect from you

Outrageous nonsense?
So you don't believe that accidental killings by children with access to guns aren't happening?
I would say that's outrageous nonsense.
There have been at least 43 shootings carried out by children under the age of three in the United States so far this year.
So far in 2015:
13 toddlers have killed themselves with guns
• 18 other small children injured themselves
• 10 injured other people
• Two killed other people

It's so sad Dolly see how many children we lose to guns each year.

Come on Dolly! I think you are smart enough to get the point of my post, at least I thought you were. Maybe I misjudged you?
